I’ve been in Sydney for over a week now and I’ve been loving my time since I’ve landed. I feel at home. I feel welcome in a big city. This big city. I can relate to the people around me and they seem to say the same. People are interested in the same things I am. I’ve honestly never felt that way before. I just can’t help but feel part of something bigger. However… I get the impression that I’m much less unique here. The people here that are unique stand out a lot. I’m just another faggot wearing a hoodie, a scarf and some fancy glasses really. That’s the downside to feeling understood… feeling generic.
I started work on Monday and everything is going well. I’m working on a research project at MacQuarie University programming an eLearning portal which is already used in serveral universities and schools worldwide now. The project is called LAMS and is worth checking out. For the IT guys, LAMS is developed in J2EE with the help of Flash. I’m learning a lot, and fortunately, I get to do this at my own pace.
I’ve found my new place right near Central Station. I’m close to all the places I enjoy most, I can catch an express train to work and back from Central, all the necessary services are two steps away, the flat I’m living in is brand spanking new and my flatmates are sweethearts. Joie joie joie!
I’ve caught a bad cold lately which, in my opinion, may be bronchitis. Keep in mind that I’m no doctor! My mom just came down with it as well and I’m guessing that I’ve got the same bug. Gimme the antibiotics so I can get this shit over with already!
Otherwise, been hanging out at some awesome cafés and have been getting to know Sydney quite well. Glebe, Newtown, Balmain… all wonderful districts.
Hoping to hear from you all soon. For those that don’t read this stuff, I’ll be sending you an email soon. Cheers!

I totally know how you feel. Funny isn’t it?
