Paul,

Reading your last 2 posts really reminded me of my first two months over here when I got super excited about almost every little thing. Discovering a new neighbourhood was like discovering that I have an extra $1,000 in my bank account, and then I always try to analyse every single corner of the city (I never really stopped actually): the people, the shops, the fashion, the music, the habits, the accent, the attitude, and of course you cannot help but comparing them with all other places you've lived or visited.

I still think Sydney is ruthlessly more expensive compared to a lot of other cities. Rent is a given, but cummon, $3 for a bottle of mineral water and $2.80 for a small flat white? I could get a small latte for $1.75 in Canada!

It's funny how you mentioned Newtown is your favourite neighbourhood, and that's how I decided to stay in Alexandria which is only about 15 minute walk from Newtown. I still am in love with the area but as you discover Sydney more you start to appreciate the other neighbourhoods more and more. I, for one, think that Paddington Darlinghurst and Woolahra are just about the place to be should I want to move, though I won't mind a single bit living in Surry Hills (so many great cafes and restaurants!)

When it comes to outdoor festivals you can't really beat Sydney (ok.. maybe Montreal can..), I went to Live Green for a bit too (I kinda had to, since I've been promoting it to other staff at work). If you like art you might wanna check out Sydney Design 08 at Powerhouse Museum, this weekend the exhibitions end I think - I went last weekend.

You're talking about cafe culture... you haven't been to Melbourne. They have a SERIOUS cafe culture there. Best cup of coffee in Sydney? Campos in Newtown. So. Good. I swear to god I've never tasted a cup of coffee as amazing as a Campos coffee.

Gig tickets here sell faster than roasted peanuts. It seems that every time I tried to buy a ticket they're always already sold out.

For your weekly dose of Sydney subcultures, subscribe to TwoThousand.com.au

I guess another thing I feel after reading your posts is how much I miss blogging. I used to blog a lot 3-4 years ago but then life took over and I never really had the time. My tumblelog acts more like snippets, but I do miss writing a lot. You're giving me inspiration to start again. Thank you for that. :)
